Although acrylic shower stalls are durable and easily maintainable, they can still be accidentally damaged from time to time. Particularly in the pan area, where you stand, the ground tends to get alot of wear and tear. The walls can get scratched and eroded if abused with abrasive cleaners or solutions. In these rare moments, you should be equipped with the resources and knowledge to fix it.
The first thing you should know is exactly how much you want to spend on repairing your acrylic shower stall. If you want to tear out your entire steam shower unit and install a new one, this may be costly and can set you back more than you initially paid for it. Small nicks and scratches would probably not warrant this dramatic of an action. You can simply fix your cracks and holes with the same compound that is used in automobile repair.
The first thing you should do if you decide that you can repair your acrylic shower stall on your own is to clean the areas to be refurbished thoroughly. Also make certain to get rid of any remnant of the cleaning solution before you begin. Next, go over the affected areas with a special fiberglass tape. Use a mix of resin, hardener and tint/colorant together and spread it over the taped area. Smooth it over carefully and allow it to dry. Once it is hardened, sand down the surface so that it matches the surrounding walls of the shower enclosure. A special note while sanding the mixture is to not scuff any of the adjacent areas. Finally, buff the finished area with a buffing compound that is used for cars. It will give it that much needed glossy finish.
